Expert Tip. All modes of public transportation in Hong Kong have their own fare systems. Guests who intend to travel in the area may want to buy an Octopus, an electronic smart card that allows travelers to use buses, trains, trams, ferries and subways without having to worry about making exact change. Cards are sold at MTR train and subway stations. The cheapest Octopus is US$19. An Airport Express card costs US$39 and is good for three days of unlimited travel and an airport round trip.
